As spring has sprung, in the southern hemisphere, this is the time to care for your Orchids, for the new growing period. This is the ideal time, to re-pot Cattleya Orchids, as new root growth forms, at the base of the pseudobulbs. Remove the plant from the pot gently, so as not to upset the new root tips. Remove any old potting mix, that might still be stuck to the roots, by spraying water on to the area. Cut all dead roots and bulb tendrils back, by using sterilized scissors. Preferably using a new pot and new potting soil, place the Orchid plant in the pot, carefully and secure it, with wire, or a thin wooden support, to prevent movement, before the new roots have developed and properly anchored themselves. The pot should be large enough, to provide for 2 full years of growth.

Yesterday we discussed the problems and used tables, to identify the types of insect, that are eating our gardens. Knowing what type of insect we are dealing with, we now look at remedies for controlling and hopefully eradicating these pests, using natural, harmless formulas.
