And now for something completely different. We all love gifts. It is typical of human nature. What is better than getting a product of value and not having to pay for it? Of course, apart from the obvious supply of great free products, the giveaways serve another purpose too. For the marketers, who contribute these gifts, the payoff is increasing their lists. No marketer can make sales without a list. The giveaways require that the visitors give their names a email addresses in return for the goods. The visitor, then becomes a legal subscriber, to the marketer’s mail list. He informs his list of breaking news and new offers and hopefully makes a few sales, to make up for the product he donated. So, the giveaway, helps both parties.

Legally, to comply with the anti spam laws, the marketer must ask the subscriber to confirm the subscription, by clicking a confirmation link. Some even ask to confirm twice. The marketer cannot be accused of spamming, when he sends out his promotional emails to his list of subscribers and even then every email must include an unsubscribe link, so the subscriber has every opportunity to opt out. But, seeing as the marketer gave his products away, it only seems fair that the subscriber, give the marketer fair opportunity of making back some money. So don’t be too hasty in unsubscribing, support the marketers. They could soon stop giving their products away and then we all lose out.

Some people create temporary email addresses, go and collect all the freebies and then close the email account. Now, that just isn’t fair, is it? Why spoil it for others? If you are not prepared to pay and want these gifts for free, then at least play the game and give the marketer a chance. Imagine if you were blacklisted by all the marketers and never ever given a freebie again? Please play fair. These marketers are battling to earn a living and work very hard at providing a service.
