There is always time for a smile and even busy marketers and productive gardeners need to take time to smile. Derek used this article last week on his blog and I thought it so funny, that I just had to share it with you. This was written by Rose (no surname) and goes like this. “I received a letter from my grandmother, last week. She is 83 years old and still drives her own car. She wrote:”

“Dear Rose, The other day, I went up to our local Christian bookstore and saw a “hoot if you love Jesus” bumper sticker. I was feeling particularly fired up that day, because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So I bought the sticker and a helpful young man put it on my rear bumper, for me.

Boy, am I glad I did! What an uplifting experience followed! I was stopped at a red light, at a busy intersection, just lost in thought, about the Lord and how good He is, and I didn’t notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing, that someone else loves Jesus, because if he hadn’t hooted, I’d never have realized that the light was green.

While I was sitting there, the guy behind me started hooting like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed “For the love of God! Go! Go! Go!” What an exuberant cheerleader he was, for Jesus!

Then I found that lots of people love Jesus! Everyone started hooting! I just leaned out my window and I started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even pressed the hooter a few times, to share in the love. There must have been a man from Margate, back there, because I heard him yelling something, about the “sunny beach”.

I also saw another guy, waving in a funny way, with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked your Uncle George, who was in the back seat, what that meant. He said that it was probably a Zulu good luck sign, or something. Well, I’ve never met anyone from Zululand, so I leaned out the window again, and gave the man the good luck sign back! George burst out laughing. Gosh, even he was enjoying the religious experience!

A couple of other people were so caught up in the joy of the moment, that they even got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray, or ask what church I attended, but unfortunately, this was when I noticed that the light had changed. I would have loved to stay and chat, but I had to move. So, I grinned and waved at all my brothers and sisters and drove on through the intersection.

I realized, that I was the only car, that got through the intersection, before the light changed again, and I felt kind of sad, that I had to leave all my new friends, after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Zulu good luck sign, one last time, as I drove away! They were happy people, because as I lost sight of them, I noticed they were all hooting, waving and returning the good luck signal! Praise the Lord for such wonders!”

I can imagine what those people were really thinking, but the naivety of the old lady, makes it quite funny. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
