Yes, I am a keen gardener and yes, I am a writer of daily articles on gardening topics, but I am also a normal person and a lady, so why not find time for lady things, every so often? I know that many of you, in the northern hemisphere, have been chased from your gardens, by the approaching cold winter weather and now have time to pamper yourselves, a little. This article is for all those of you, who feel tired, and miserable. Put the smile back on your faces and keep young at heart!
Here are a few tips to stay young.
1. Throw out all non essential numbers. These numbers include age, weight, height and number of birthdays. Let your doctor worry about them. That’s what he is paid for.
2. Keep only cheerful friends. They lift you up, while the grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Read. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, or whatever, but never let your mind get lazy. An idle mind, is the devil’s workshop.
4. Enjoy the simple things in life.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you have to gasp for breath.
6. Tears do happen. Cry, endure, grieve and move on. The only person who truly understands you and is there with you, all your life, is you. Be alive, while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, or whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health. If it’s good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond improving, get help.
9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, to another country, to another part of your country, anywhere, but not where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love, that you love them, at every opportunity.
11. Don’t be dictated to. Do what feels good. Wear what you want. Do what you like. Staying happy, is staying healthy and staying healthy, is staying young.
12. Be true to yourself.
13. Spoil yourself every now and then.
14. Treat others, as you would like to be treated.
15. Remember that life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!
That is the official guide to staying young. If you are able to master the above tips and apply them to your every day life, you will be a better person. Number 7 is my favorite. Indulge in your hobbies, create things of beauty – practice gardening. It also keeps you fit and healthy. What you give to this world, is what you will get back from this world.
