A Zen garden is an ancient Japanese garden, that monks use to use, to meditate and contemplate and they date all the way back to the thirteenth century.

Zen Garden - A Perfect Spot For Relaxation And Reflection
Decorative grasses, sometimes called ornamental grasses make for attractive garden displays and are perfect for hiding an otherwise ugly feature, such as a manhole, sump, old tree stump or pile of rubble, especially if this is in the neighbor’s yard. Let’s take a look at one of these, called Job’s tears, which has many practical uses.
An old Chinese Proverb says “If you want to be happy for ever, make a garden.” Everyone has their own likes, or dislikes in planning a garden. Formal and victorian style gardens have gone out of fashion long ago. A rose garden can still also look very formal, but if one introduces climbing roses, on an arch, or trellis work, or a few rustic steps with a shale pathway, it will enhance the garden and make it look more natural.
Living in South Africa, where we have a lot of sun, our shrubs and trees grow rather quickly. For example, an Almond tree will take around 9 years to grow to a height of 4m in England, but will reach the same height in just 4 years, in South Africa.

There are many new trends surfacing in gardening these days and water gardening is one of the main new interests. Water gardening can be in the form of waterfalls, ponds and fountains, all of which can be enhanced by rockwork combinations and lighting, plants and fish. Water gardening doesn’t have to be a pond, or natural water source either, it can just as easily consist of a plastic tub, or basically anything that can hold water.
