Internet technicians first introduced blogging, back in the mid 1990s, by referring to their server’s web log files as blogs, which was short for weblogs. They used them to record short encrypted messages and made them available to other technicians around the world. They were then snatched up by bored teens, who used them as an easy way of sending notes, songs, photos and love letters to their peers. A few adults then realized that a blog was an easy way to make family albums and crise photos and similar things available to family and friends. They would simply create a blog album and give the URL to friends, so that they could access the album.

The blog technology is vastly improved since those days and is now a massive market communications tool and there are millions of bloggers around the world. In 2004, blogging was voted the buzzword of the year, as it started to receive more media coverage. Nowadays, there is a new blog created, on the internet, every second! A recent survey in the US, in 2005, found that workers in the US, wasted 551 000 manhours, of the work time, in that year alone, by reading and writing blogs.

One of the greatest advantages to a blog, is that you can have it up and running in a couple of hours. Most blogging software is free, a lot are open source and most are templated. Several offer plug ins and add ons and custom settings.

As long as you add new blog postings on a regular basis and these are not offensive, then the search engines regard them as valuable new, fresh content and your blog spot will receice high rankings in no time. Adsense and Adwords work very well on blog sites and are very easily integrated. This allows for further search engine attention and of course another source of earning.

The main components of any blog are broken down as the title, the body, trackback links, your permanent links and visitor comments. That’s it. These are all provided for by your templated format, so you don’t have to worry about setting them out each time.

Once you have set up your blog, selected your layout and personalised the page to the way you want it and installed Adsense, then all that is left is to start writing. Once you have built up a small library of articles, or postings, you then start submitting them, to the article sites and blog sites, around the globe. Place your site links and one, or two affiliate links, at the end of each article and you’re set.

Most blog sites allow for submission and syndication and it is a simple matter to install RSS feeds to your site. These feeds will take each newly updated blog and send it to the other sites automatically, so you do not even need to do that. Apart from these other sites, who are always looking for fresh content, your customers, friends and readers can also subscribe, to have each new article, sent straight to them, on their desktops.

If you are using affiliate links to sell products, then you usually do not have to worry about a website. If you are selling your own products, then you can insert the links to your salespages, in your blogs and interested parties will click on them to be taken to the product page.

So, you see now why blogs are so popular, so simple and so powerful? Imagine having a couple of blogs, one for each niche and all fully monetised. All will receive excellent attention from the search engines and of course you will link them all together.
