If you have been reading my blog for some time, you will know how much of a problem it has been, for us to upgrade to a decent internet connection. In South Africa, the bigger cities are able to offer internet in many shapes and sizes, but if you live in a smaller town, or on a farm, you have no chance of getting any signal whatsoever, except the terribly slow, restricted, unreliable, expensive dialup, offered by Telkom.

At Last We Got A Better Internet Connection
I wrote this article some time ago, before I managed to get my business going properly. I have been able to overcome some of these obstacles, but a lot still stump me. I have been asked a few times, to re-run this series of articles, so as it is the holidays, here it is again. It may seem a bit outdated, in my context, but believe me, there are still a lot of people, to whom this will apply.

Internet Marketing In South Africa part 1
There have been several articles on our dilemma to get a faster and more stable internet connection and this matter has dragged on for a full 14 months! Six of these months were wasted by waiting for a Pietermaritzburg company to connect us. They had lied and stalled every day for a full 6 months and then I discovered they were lying. I met a new guy Steve, who seemed genuine and promised he could help. I remained a little skeptical, but in the last 2 weeks, since I first contacted him, things are really happening.

Latest News In Our Quest For Faster Internet Access
Why is it that some pinheads make money, while many decent, conscientious people never seem to make it? If you have been following our ongoing saga, in trying to get a better, faster internet connection, you will know that we have been trying for all of 13 months now and have been plagued by poor service, unreliable business people and a total lack of commitment, from these businesses.
Africa are years behind the civilized world, when it comes to technology and services and South Africa is no better. Although South Africa is the capital of Africa for every sort of advancement and mod con, the fact is, it is still a part of Africa and this will never change. How Do You Work On The Internet When They Steal The Cable
If you have been following this series, on the problems of getting internet access, in the rural parts of South Africa, then you will know how many things we have tried. You will also remember, that in the last article, we got very little response from PMB Comp and the manager Keith.
I had identified, what I considered to be a perfect site, for them to erect a repeater station and I had approached the local farmer, on whose land this hill is based, for permission. We scouted the area and identified several large areas of farmlands, businesses and residences that would benefit from a tower on that hill. That hill seemed to advantage nearly every small town in a 30 mile radius. I then had the onerous task, of convincing the company to meet with me and the farmer, to discuss the possibility of erecting the tower.
It is always nice to know, that your articles are actually being read and even nicer, to hear from some of the people, who have read them. In response to our 6 part article series, on the problems faced by South African internet marketers and the continuing saga of trying to get better internet access, I have received many emails, from fellow South Africans, who are still in SA, or who have left our shores. They all agree, that we are seriously disadvantaged, in the internet world.
This issue of internet connection, or access, seems to be an ongoing saga. I still cannot get any form of internet access, except for the terrible Telkom dialup. Having drawn a blank, with 3G, GPRS and all other wireless signals and having already exhausted all fixed line options, we placed all our hopes on this new company and their super fast, broadband wireless connections.

The Next In The Ongoing Saga Of Our Internet Access Problems In South Africa
Further to the last article in this series, I have some bad news and some good news. You will remember, we had tried all sorts of solutions, for our access problems. I had phoned and written to numerous companies, outlining my problems and asking for a solution. Eventually, when it seemed that we were doomed to continue with the terrible dialup conditions, we had been promised by Nashua, in Pietermaritzburg, that they would be able to offer a worthwhile solution to our problems, with internet access. I raved about them, in the last article and felt sure we had found the perfect solution.
